Golden Ridge Farms — hand-built cob oven and outdoor kitchen

Ten years of
building by hand

When Steve and Anna first walked this land, they didn't see acreage. They saw a kitchen. A table. A place where the recipes Steve's grandmother brought from Hungary could live on — not in a cookbook, but in the smell of bread rising from a wood-fire oven.

The best bread I ever tasted was my grandmother's potato bread. I still make it her way — and now I share it with everyone who walks through the gate.Steve Szilagyi

Over a decade, Steve cleared the land, laid stone, built a cob oven by hand, and converted a garage into a kitchen. Their two children — both passionate cooks — grew up here. The farm isn't something they built. It's something they became.

Fifteen acres of living hospitality

The Cob Oven

Built by hand from stone and clay. Bread, roasted meats, wood-fired pizzas — everything tastes different when fire does the cooking. This is the heart of the farm.

Three Creeks

Water runs through this property like a story. One creek winds through old-growth cedar to the spot where we set the long tables for our creekside dinners.

The Barn

Weddings under the rafters. Concerts on summer nights. Community suppers that go late. The barn holds space for whatever brings people together.

Market Garden

Steps from the kitchen. What we pick in the morning is on your plate by evening. Seasonal vegetables, herbs, and greens — the way food was meant to travel.

Outdoor Dining

Long wooden tables set in the open air. Lanterns in the trees. The kind of meals you remember not for what you ate but for how it felt to be there.

Live Music

Steve is a musician. So are his friends. Acoustic sets, full bands, late-night fires with guitar. Music isn't an add-on here — it's part of the rhythm.

Creekside long table dinner with open fire cooking at golden hour

Food by fire,
creekside

Long tables are set along the bank where the creek bends through the cedars. As dusk settles, the wood-fire kitchen sends out course after course — family-style, unhurried, shared.

Every dinner follows the same rule: cook what the farm gave us that week. The menu changes with the harvest, the smoke changes with the wood, and the company changes every night — but the table always feels like home.

Heritage recipes,
honest fire

Every dish that leaves the cob oven starts with a recipe someone in the family actually grew up eating. Steve's grandmother's potato bread. Anna's family's braised greens. Recipes carried across oceans, now finished over Maple Ridge wood.

There's no gas line here, no induction burner — just coals, embers, and decades of learning how heat moves through stone. It's slower. It's also the only way Steve will cook.

The kids, now grown, run parts of the kitchen themselves, folding their own ideas into the same wood-fired tradition. What started as one family's table has become a kitchen that keeps teaching itself.

Live in the grove

Luxury regenerative hospitality by Vitera. Glass cabins and canvas suites nestled inside living greenhouses — tucked among citrus groves, above spring-fed pools, wrapped in mist and morning light.

“A path through the greenhouse. Oranges above, marigolds at your feet, a stream of koi beside you — and your cabin waiting at the end of it.”
